- How's this for a nightmare:
-
- I have Windows NT3.51 and Windows 95 dual booting without any problems
- on a DX2-66 laptop with 12MB of RAM. I really don't understand what
- people mean with NT running slower than 95. The performance is
- virtually identical. If anything, I prefer NT, because true
- multi-tasking allows me to REALLY do something else when the system is
- busy. Multi tasking is infinitely better than Windows 95. The shell
- upgrade runs fine, but I'm itching to get my hands on Beta 2 of
- NT4.0....any week now.
-
- The only killer on my system is the lack of RAM. If you have a laptop
- without a CD, I suggest that you attach a temporary CD (parallel port)
- and transfer all WIN 95 and NT installation files to your hard drive
- and then install the operating systems from there. It works
- beautifully and you'll always have access to any drivers or option
- files that may be required in the future.
-
- It's somewhat annoying to have to install applications under two
- operating systems. VXDs and DLLs can be shared, but most of the
- configuration information is stored in each operating system's
- registry, so it's better is you just install everything twice.
